WomenForward

On, Friday, June 6, 2008, The Honorable Lynne M. Abraham, District Attorney of Philadelphia, will be joining us at Knowlton Mansion as our guest speaker. Our doors will open at 11:30 AM.

Start with a self-guided tour of Knowlton Mansion, bid on our women-centered silent auction (spa packages, beach theme, BBQ, and gardening baskets, handbags, and the like) and network with old friends and make new ones. A picnic-style boxed lunch will be served promptly at noon.

After lunch, Lynne will offer some inspiring words on “Building a Leadership Legacy…” She knows the difference that community involvement makes and knows that, as women, we have a special and unique role. She will challenge each of us all to reach across the generational divide and help other women to grow! In keeping with that focus, womenforward has invited several young women from area high schools to be our guests to this event.5 Their participation will help these students to experience the power and impact women can have in their community. Their attendance will also help to increase awareness of the GNPCC Foundation’s Scholarship Fund. Our event will end at 1:30 PM.

A brief bio of DA Abraham: Over 300 Assistant District Attorneys and 300 support personnel, under the leadership of District Attorney Lynne Abraham, work tirelessly every day to make sure every victim of crime is treated fairly and equally and justice is served. Known as "The People's D,A." Lynne Abraham has created many crime prevention and victim service programs such as: The Repeat Offenders Unit, The Public Nuisance Task Force, The Youth Violence Reduction Project and The Family Violence Sexual Assault Unit. Her office works in each neighborhood with community leaders, anti-drug activists, town watch members and all interested citizens to keep each neighborhood as safe as possible.

The goal for this program is to assist members of our community in furthering their education and to hopefully become an asset to area employers and to improve their own skills.
